The Whistlin' Pine Ranch campground is situated on the south shore of Alta lake. We have 34 tent sites, 10 RV sites and 9 cabins. We can accomodate groups up to 125 people at one time. The lake opens for trout fishing the last Saturday of April and closes September 30th. Memorial weekend through Labor Day is popular for swimming, skiing & jet ski activities.

Picture break in the grassy meadows of Alta Coulee

Trail rides at Whistlin' Pine Ranch, from the 1 hour to the full day excursion, offer guests a true sense of actually going somewhere and seeing the geology of the glacier cut valley known as the "Alta Coulee."

At times you'll be riding on a historic freight & stage line road, where over 100 years ago supplies and passengers were moved through this valley. Listen closely and you can almost hear the crack of bullwhips, the pounding of hoofbeats and the creak of a coach...pass right below us.

See the traces of old mining activity and the hearty efforts of man as they carved dangerous switchbacks up the face of steep mountains. The lure and promise of precious metals caused men to take high risks...many ill-fated.

See the effects of the forces of nature as parts of mountains lie in the wake of glacier activity several thousand years ago. See it all from the back of ranch raised horses proven safe & reliable for first time riders.

See ya on the trail...
